The Hashtag Marketing Strategy | Promote Through Social Media

Today we’re going deeper into one of the marketing strategies you can use to promote your brand on many social media platforms. Many people call this trick “the hashtag strategy”. This is a strategy that will be really effective when you start out with zero followers. This technique will take a lot of your time but in the long run it will be worth every second.

Now to what the hashtag strategy really is. Everyone that are familiar with social media platforms  know their is a search function called hashtag. For you new people, let me explain. On almost every social media platform that has a search bar you can search for a specific hashtag. A hashtag is like a group where all pictures and videos with that tag will show up. Find this # key on your keyboard. This (#) is the hashtag sign. When first pressing that sign and writing a word after on the description of the photo or video you link that photo to that tag. Let me give you an example, if you post a photo of your cat and in the description write #cat #pet this photo will now automatically appear in this hashtag folder.

One thing that is possible as well on social platforms like Instagram is to search for places. If you got a local brand or business you can do the exact same tactic but instead of targeting hashtags you can instead target places around the world. This is also a very smart way to gain local followers in your country.

Now to how you find a hashtag and how you use this to promote your brand. Lets say you’re trying to grow a following as a music artist. It’s really hard in the start to gain the first couple of followers. You can then go to the search bar of any platform and write for example #music or #artist. You can now see every post on the platform with your hashtag. Now to the easy part, the only thing you have to do now is to press every small creator, artist or person and comment something relevant to the picture and keep repeating the process.

How do this help you? The person that posted the picture you just liked and commented now wonder who you are. They might press your profile and see “Oh he is an artist, cool” and click off your profile. But when you done this over and over and over again some people will press your profile and like what you do. And there you have one new follower on your page! If you done this 200 times and gained 3 followers it’s still an improvement. 

Yes this will take some of your time but if you do this just one hour every day instead of watching one more episode of your Netflix show you will finally start to grow a small following. The hardest part is to get the first 1000 followers. If it was easy everyone would have a successful brand or company.

It cost time but no money and if you want to gain in followers and sales one hour a day is a small price to pay for the value in the long run.

The last couple of days I have been writing about posting at least two times a day on every social platform to maximize the chance of getting noticed.
