Why you should build a personal brand to increase in sales!

Is building a personal brand important? As a salesman or business owner a personal brand is a great way to increase your credibility. If people have a clear picture of your goals, opinions and brand they are more likely to trust you. Unless you inventing something completely new your sales are going to depend on how you presenting your business to the customers. Of course you can make it without building a personal brand but if your product have a lot of competition it helps you really much to stand out of the crowd by building a personal brand. 

We all know some YouTubers, artists and influencers earning millions of dollars only in merch sales. This is not because their products usually are better than the competition. This is often because they have created a personal brand that people like so much they are ready to buy anything to support them. In case you think it’s different for "less artistic" businesses you can look at people like Elon Musk and Gary Vaynerchuck. They don’t sing or paint to get people to follow them but a lot of people admiring and like them for their unique personality. 

Don’t get me wrong here. Of course the biggest reason all of these people make sales is because they are good salesmen and know everything about their own niche but to have a interesting personality and a personal brand that people like to follow always help you. 

So how do you build a personal brand outside of your company? You can start by creating accounts in your own name on social media platforms which is the easy part. The hard part is to get people to like you and think you are worth following. If we go back a couple of years this was so much easier. You could literally get a big following by posting a picture of yourself with a clever text every day. You can still do this but the competition is much harder nowadays. To succeed building a personal brand in 2020 you need to be unique.

The easiest way to be unique is to literally to be your true self in every piece of content you post. There is a proverb saying that “a picture is worth a thousand words” and I actually believe this to be true. You can capture someones attention on social media with the right photo way more than writing a good caption. What I believe is even more true though is that a “video is worth a million words”. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that it is the easiest way to show your personality in a video. You can be a good writer that people love but the majority will always be drawn to personalities through videos. 

A author must be amazing to get rich selling books in 2020. You don’t have to be the best salesman in history to sell merch 2020 though. If people like the person you are some people are going to be willing to fight for you and as you might figure out also be willing to buy stuff from you.

Chasing money should never be your goal. It’s alright to chase for money but in the most cases it just going to feel like your running away from it. I see so many “digital marketing coaches” have these one thousand dollar courses on how to succeed and some people might even buy it but that is not how you build peoples trust. Teach people first for free and let them build up a trust towards you. If you do this correctly you are going to get a lot more sales in the long run. Its really all about long term versus short term gaining. You want a thousand dollars quick go with method one but if you want a sustainable business that’s going to make a income for a longer time I must recommend the last option.

You can make it without creating a personal brand but unless you have the worst personality ever it’s not going to harm your business to give it a try. Give your customers a change to get to know you and the sales will incrase.
